Brave shavers

08 Feb, 2012 03:06 PM
AT only 10 years of age, Kiara Hopper, Kayla Andrew and Ana Lockett, with 13-year-old Cory Walker are going to be brave and shave for the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.

The Augusta students were inspired by Kiara’s mum Nola Hopper, who was a top 30 winner in 2010 for shave fundraising – coming 18th overall.

Calling themselves the Hairy Dolphins – named by Kayla’s four-year-old sister - they will go bald at 6.30pm on Friday, March 16 at the Augusta Hotel.

They plan to auction off the role of shaver.

Kiara said she wanted to do the Greatest Shave to help people with cancer.

As of Friday they had raised $688, not counting all the funds in tins around Augusta, and hope to hit the mighty target of $5000.

They are holding fundraisers including stalls and a hair colour session at their school sports carnival. To sponsor them visit www.worldsgreatestshave.com and look up their team, or put money into their tins. Their parents all have receipt books if needed.
