THE closing date for submissions on the way the Margaret River and Nannup bushfires were handled last November, has been extended to April 29.
Canberra consultants Noetic Solutions Pty Ltd have been engaged by the State Government to prepare reports on the bushfires.
The Margaret River report will deal with the suppression of the fire, building on work by Mick Keelty detailed in his report Appreciating the Risk.
The Nannup report will deal with the escape of the prescribed burn and the suppression of the resulting fire.
Noetic would prefer submissions to be placed before a public forum on Sunday, April 29, as the information will be used to plan the forum.
Submissions can also be handed in at the public forum, while the Bushfire Recovery Hub in Tunbridge St will act as a collection point for hand-completed forms on or before Friday.
These will be faxed to Noetic or delivered to the forum.
Alternatively, submissions can be faxed directly to Noetic on (02) 6232 6515.
Recovery officer Marian Hutton will be available this week to help people with their forms, to get as much feedback as possible before the forum. Her mobile is 0427 005 842.
Noetic will report on the actions and decisions of the Department of Environment and Conservation, the Fire and Emergency Services Authority, and the shires of Augusta-Margaret River and Nannup.
Forums will be held in Margaret River and Nannup for the public to provide Noetic with feedback on the bushfires.
All are invited to attend the Margaret River Public Forum, 2-5pm Sunday, April 29, at the council chambers.
For details contact Donna Wolter at the shire offices on 9780 5255.
