AUGUSTA-Margaret River Shire deputy president Ray Colyer moved into the top job as president last Thursday night, with Cr Jenny McGregor as his deputy.

Cr McGregor put in the nomination for Cr Colyer, while Cr Brian Middleton nominated himself.

After the councillors used polling booths to make their votes, Colyer won on a 4-3 count.

The result was three votes for Cr McGregor, two for Cr Smart and two for Cr Middleton.

South West MLC Barry House presided at the voting and at the swearing-in of the new shire councillors Ian Earl, John Bell and returning Cr McGregor.
