THERE has been a change of heart from the Council of Owners of Town Square, reverting their decision to no longer allow market stall holders to use the verandah space.
Strata manager Natalie Chambers said the markets would be able to continue using the verandah under some new guidelines.
“It was proposed that permanent visual marking be put in place to outline exact positioning of the market stalls on the verandah of the complex to stop any possible conflict from access as previously experienced,” she said.
“The Council of Owners are now working closely with the manager of the Markets to have this in place before Sunday.
“This will be the start of a four-month trial after which the Council of Owners will meet again with the manager to assess the success of the changes.”
The council have also included an option for tenants at Town Square to not participate in this trial if they would prefer to not have stalls outside their shops.
Market organiser Alastair Wilkie said so far three shops had indicated that they did not want stalls in front of their shops.
He said he was pleased a compromise had been reached and hopeful the markets could continue after the trial period.
