WALLCLIFFE Bushfire Brigade volunteers spent Friday evening folding and stuffing envelopes for their annual newsletter that will be mailed to residents this week.
Wallcliffe BFB serve the area west of Margaret River township, including the high fire risk areas of Wilderness, Gnarabup, Kilcarnup, Rapids and Prevelly.
During the past 12 months they have attended 25 callouts, including a fire that seriously threatened homes in Gnarabup and Rainbow Cave Road.
The newsletter forms part of the Brigade’s annual fundraising efforts.
The Wallcliffe BFB is a volunteer community organisation; its members contribute a substantial amount of time to the community by responding to wildfires, engaging in training, maintaining equipment and attending to administration of the brigade.
The newsletter also provides useful tips for developing a bushfire survival plan.
“Many residents were unprepared for the recent bushfires,” Wallcliffe BFB captain Brett Trunfull said.
“If you live in a bushfire risk area you must have a survival plan.
“Your plan will help you take action and avoid making last minute decisions that could prove deadly in a bushfire.”
Donations to the brigade can be made via cheque or cash to PO Box 537, Margaret River or direct deposit to Wallcliffe Bushfire Brigade BSB 036 127 Account 125 286.
All donations are tax deductable.
