THE Youth Advisory Council is gearing up for another youth music event from 7.30pm to 10.30pm on Friday, July 17 at the Margaret River Cultural Centre.
Le Cube’s in the Action is the first all-age music gig for 2009.
Le Cube’s in the Action will provide original and outlandish entertainment showcasing local bands including Cowtown and Scarecity with tunes pumped out by local DJ Dead Money throughout the night.
The event will be cranking with heavy beats on the dance floor, hair colouring, a photo booth and prizes awarded to punters for best dancer and cubic moves.
The YAC, a group of 15 young people, have turned it on for the drug and alcohol free event, working on publicity, event promotion, venue management, production and technical works.
Community Development project officer Connor McLeod said that YAC have worked hard to make the night special by organising the Cultural Centre to be lit up with a light show, displaying art created by local artists, running a non-alcoholic kiosk and more than three hours of entertainment.
“Le Cube’s in the Action aims to increase opportunities not only for local bands performing at the event, but also for the young people pulling out the elbow grease and making this event happen,” Mr McLeod said.
Le Cube is presented by YAC and the Augusta-Margaret River Shire through RAMMPAAGE funding, obtained from the Western Australia Music Industry Association.
Felix Wolfl, YAC officer and Rubik’s Cube Mascot, said he was pumped about the gig and the notion of having to wear a box on his head for the entire night.
The entry fee is $7 and tickets are available at the door.
There will be no passes out for people under 16 years of age, unless parents have talked to the event organisers in giving their children permission to leave the event.
People 16 years and over will need to show proof of age by form of photo ID such as a student identification card.
