SOUTH West MCL Barry House presented Arts Margaret River with a cheque for $2600 last week for the In Harmony – Music, Movie, Food festival.

The festival, planned for March 18, is a collaboration between the Margaret River Community Resource Centre and Arts Margaret River, aiming to celebrate cultural diversity, and connect people who are culturally and linguistically diverse with the rest of the community.

“To be a successful recipient of such a competitive grant is a fantastic achievement for Arts Margaret River and the community as a whole,” Mr House said.

“Many of us may take for granted how easy it is to get to know people in the local community, particularly when English is our first language; we have lived here all our lives and share a cultural understanding with the majority of people in the area.

“This project, along with 12 others around the state is supported by the Government for the effort it makes, in making those who may be isolated, welcome in the community.”

Projects funded were chosen according to their ability to actively promote participation, equity and the benefits of cultural diversity in WA.
