LOCAL schools have been working to complete Learning Journals and paint lifesize cow sculptures from Dairy Australia for their Picasso Cows competition.
St Thomas More Catholic Primary School’s Year 6 class got right into the competition with their version, Picowso.
The students painted their own versions of Picasso’s paintings, and included various dairy products on a ‘blanket’ over the cow’s back, as well as painting Picasso-inspired harlequin tights on the cow’s hind legs.
The front of the cow features cubism, and the stomach includes the peace dove Picasso drew for a United Nations poster.
It took a school term to complete the work, with students, researching, designing, organising and painting the sculpture.
Participating schools have also completed their Learning Journals detailing health and nutrition projects, and ‘dairy raps’ written and performed by the students are included on Powerpoint presentations in their competition entry.
The students, teachers and cows will go to Busselton on July 25 for a presentation and awards day at Churchill Park.
The Dairy Australia competition is unrelated to CowParade.
