THE Margaret River Local Planning Scheme and Draft Town Planning Scheme will be released for advertising in the near future, 13 years after the process was initiated.
Some Augusta-Margaret River Shire councillors voiced concerns over some the content of the documents but all agreed to wait until the public had a chance to comment before amending it.
“We’ll slow the whole thing down in arguing some of the points,” shire president Steve Harrison said.
“(By) advertising we’ll see what people have to say and then move the thing forward.”
Cr Ray Colyer also disagreed with some of the content, such as the scheme only allowing one dwelling on rural lots, but wanted the public to have a chance to give their feedback.
“Hopefully the submission will reflect on that,” he said.
Overall the councillors were upbeat the schemes were finally progressing.
“This is a tremendous thing,” Cr Jenny McGregor said.
“The Shire as a whole has been waiting a long time for the Draft District Scheme.
“It’s a privilege to have been on Council when the plans returned.”
The schemes will be out for advertising for 60 days.
