BLIND Motown multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and record-producer legend, Stevie Wonder, will perform at Sandalford Wines, Wilyabrup, on March 2.

The 61-year-old multi-award winning, 32-time chart-topping artist who signed with Motown’s Tamla label at age 11, is Sandalford’s entertainment trump card.

Chief executive officer Grant Brinklow was brimming with excitement when he spoke to the Mail on Monday, saying he thought this event was an “extraordinary drawcard” for the Margaret River region.

“This is a one-and-only show for Stevie in Australia, he will not be performing anywhere else ... it is a very significant investment for us to bring him out for one show,” Mr Brinklow said. “He (Stevie) is excited, we have told him about the region and what it has to offer ... he and his 60-strong entourage will come and spend three to four days here.”

Mr Brinklow said the concert was expected to attract 12,000 people, some from interstate and overseas, with strong ticket interest already.

“This concert weekend is going to be a real boom for the South West,” he said.

Mr Brinklow said Sandalford would continue to bring in big name acts to attract tourism to the region.

Indie pop songstress Georgi Kay will open for Wonder and local act mUnk will perform in the VIP tent. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketek. For prices, concert details and information see www.sandalford.com.
