Tell your bushfire story

01 Feb, 2012 04:34 PM
IF you were affected by the November bushfires, there are people who want to record your story.

The Margaret River Community Resource Centre, ABC radio and the Margaret River Historical Society are planning a joint project to collect audio stories from affected people.

Resource Centre co-ordinator Niomi O’Hara, who sometimes works for the ABC, said she could see how helpful it was for people to tell their stories.

“Many people I spoke to had been quite traumatised, and although it was obvious to me, I don’t think they realised it themselves,” she said.

Jill James of the Historical Society said they had the audio equipment and will store the records, while the ABC has offered to edit the stories.

In a timely boost, the Society recently received funding for audio equipment.

If you are interested in taking part, contact the Resource Centre on 9757 3200.
