WITH the introduction of the town’s recycled water to the Margaret River Golf Club we have created a true golfing destination for golfers from across the country and overseas!
Tuesdays see the playing of the weekly veterans comp and last week the Stableford event was won by Roy Garstone (22) shading Mike O’Connor on a countback.
Women’s day is Wednesday and Renae Lea (17) was the winner of the 9-hole comp. Penny Foy (34), striking a bit of form, took out the 18-hole prize.
The biggest event of the week is scroungers on Thursdays and Vince Home won the last week’s Augusta-Margaret River Mail Stableford event over Bill Barth (39) and Larry DeJong (38). The gross prize was won by Rod Bedford.
Saturday’s Monthly Mug men’s stroke event, sponsored by Prideaus Accommodation and John Evans, was easily won by Dean Taylor (69) who parred the course. Richard Catchpole (71) was second while Terry Halsall (74) came third.
Dave Goodall monstered the rest of the field to win the long-drive competition.
Rosily Vineyard sponsored Sunday’s mixed event, and Vic Solonec (40) recorded the highest score of the week to win the men’s prize. Laurie Barker (37) won the women’s prize and Mike Croxford was third overall.
This week on Tuesday, the Vets play for the right to be called Club Champion and on Friday afternoon there is the weekly summer Twilight comp.
Public are welcome to play and there is a free sausage sizzle afterwards for all to enjoy.
