At last, a hole in one for Roger

MARGARET River Golf Club saw its second hole in one in as many weeks, with Roger Last scoring his first hole in one on Saturday, on No 15 128 metre Par 3 while playing in the 4BBB competition.

This is the first hole in one for Roger since he started playing more than 30 years ago.

The 4BBB competition sponsored by the Chalkies saw Steve Britton and Matt O’Connell win the day with 50 points.

Runners-up were Zac Fagan and Jason Solonec with 48 while Todd and Blake Glover were third with 47 points.

Zac Fagan also scored an Eagle on No 7.

Novelties went to Roger Last (2), Mike O’Hara, Daniel Hunt, Todd Glover, Dave Glasson, Rod Bedford (2), Zac Fagan and Dave Goodall.

Thursday’s Scroungers was sponsored by Life Member Norm Scott.

The Stableford competition saw Jon Farrell the winner with 43 points, Mick O’Hara runner-up with 42 and Rick Cowan third on a countback from Peter Nicholls.

Kerrod Gray won the Gross.

Novelties went to Rod Bedford, Rob Young, Vic Solonec, Peter Nicholls, Matt O’Connell, Carl Hurley.

Sunday Mixed Competition sponsored by Labelworld saw Brian Zanich the winner with 38 points.

Runner-up was Daniel Hunt with 36 on a countback from Blake Glover third 36.

Daniel won the Men’s Gross with 28 and Rhonda Hearn the women’s with 22.

Novelties went to Peter Boyanich, Kath Solonec, P Kapuschinski, Mal Bromley, Lyn Glasson and Kath Solonec.

The Veterans play the first Round of their Championship this week with Mike Lawson the leader on 33 nett.

Abe Huisken is in second position with 33 1/2.

Novelties went to Stuart McKechnie, Vic Solonec and Bob Garman.

Wednesday Women’s 9 Holes saw Angie Burges the winner with +2 and Marian Squance runner-up with +1.

Angie also won the novelty.

Bill Taplin won Twilight this week with 22 points while Rhonda Hearn was runner-up on a countback with 19 points from Colleen Marks.

No Twilight this week due to the Trade Day on Friday.
