Augusta cricketers trump Yobs

27 Jan, 2010 12:25 PM
A FINE cricketing performance proved the downfall of Yobs B-grade side, as he led Augusta to a 68-run win.

Yobs got off to a good start after Augusta batted first, with openers Cameron Jones (1-20) and Brodie Howell (1-26) tight early on.

After 30 overs Augusta were struggling at 3-57 and the Yobs attack was on top.

The fall of the third wicket brought Campbell to the crease and he steadied the ship.

With the help of the lower order batsman, he lifted Augusta’s total to 7/184 at the end of their 45 overs.

Campbell’s 53 was a great knock for his side and his controlled big hitting a feature.

Yobs were their own worst enemy and assisted Augusta with 25 sundries and several missed chances.

The best of their bowlers was Jamie Trewren who picked up 2-23 in a fast, but accurate spell.

Jason Dagliesh also claimed two wickets, while Wayne Howell chipped in with one.

Yobs innings started positively until man-of-the-match Aaron Campbell removed both openers.

He continued to bowl well and by the end of his spell had picked up 3-16.

Partnerships proved hard to find for Yobs and wickets fell regularly.

They were eventually all out for 116, with Garath L’Brown’s 34 runs the main contribution.

In C-grade Yobs were forced to forfeit their game due to lack of available players.

This week Yobs B and C grades play St Mary’s at Barnard Park with the A-grade side travelling to Cowaramup.
