MORE than 400 people aged three months to 80 years, joined in the Rotary Family Fun Run on Sunday morning.

Enjoying the beautiful weather, the serious athletes ran the 10km from Margaret River township to the rivermouth, while others chose the 4km course, starting at the Wallcliffe Cemetery.

It was the 11th time Rotary Margaret River has staged the event as a fundraiser for the Rotary Beach Bus, which transports children to and from the beach during the school holidays.

10km results:

First male in the open category was Bunbury’s James Webster with 0:34:14.

First female in the open category was Dunsborough’s Tina Major with 0:36:41.

First male in the under 16 age category was Margaret River’s Hugh Forward with 0:41:40.

First female in the under 16 age category was Witchcliffe’s Givenjiri Lamperd with 0:47:16.

First male in the 40 to 49 age category was Narrogin’s Gavin McGarrigal with 0:39:06.

First female in the 40 to 49 age category was Scarborough’s Tracey Gleeson with 0:42:52.

First male in the 50 to 59 age category was Warnbro’s Trevor Scott with 0:36:10.

First female in the 50 to 59 age category was Margaret River’s Helen Thomas with 0:51:17.

First male in the 60 to 69 age category was Bunbury’s Doug Wright with 0:45:44.

First female in the 60 to 69 age category was Bunbury’s Ellen Barr with 0:51:22.

First male in the 70+ age category was Mosman Park’s Irwin Barrett-Lennard, aged 80, with 0:54:49; who was also the oldest competitor.

The youngest competitor was Margaret River eight-year-old Ziam Hyland with 1:00:06.

4km results:

First male in the open category was Andrew Cohen with 0:15:41.

First female in the open category was Bunbury’s Toni Lander with 0:17:04.

First male in the under 12 age category was Margaret River’s Samuel Monkhouse with 0:18:17.

First female in the under 12 age category was Margaret River’s Natalie Iredale with 0:22:01.

The oldest competitor was East Victoria Park 80-year-old Dermot Foley with 0:33:18.

Some of the youngest entrants included three-month-old Jack House, nine-month-old Harry Godridge, two-year-old Daisy House, four-year-olds Huon House and Thomas Dare, six-year-olds Jeremy Heyes and Makani Gurr, and seven-year olds Jacob Dare and Charlie Kinsella.
