Margaret River 1 v Dunsborough 2

ON a slightly cloudy Saturday morning at Vasse Primary oval, the Margaret River captain won the toss and put Dunsborough into bat, getting use of the good early bowling conditions.

This decision soon proved to be a good one as scoring was difficult against some excellent Margaret River bowling led by Jass and Brenton who both had figures of two wickets for eight runs, with both boys being on hat tricks at different times in their spells.

Jana with one wicket for nine of three overs was also very good, as was Nick conceding only six runs from his three overs.

Overall the fielding was very good and the encouragement between teammates was something that made all the crowd very happy.

At the change of inning Dunsborough finished with a well earned 5 for 71.

Kayla and Jana came to the crease to open for Margs, and both did well seeing off the new ball and scoring two runs each, then Brenton and Trey strode purposefully out to the middle and with great determination both batted their inning without losing a wicket.

Nick and Sam came in next and did the business hitting 22 runs between them and building beautifully on the platform set by the previous batters, Kyle and Jass continued on in similar style with a partnership of 13. then in strode Lachie and Kayla (back for a second go because of uneven numbers) and the sparks flew as they piled on 24 runs in a great partnership.

Top scorers were Kayla with her 16 including the day’s only boundary and Nick with his 15.

And at the game’s end Margaret River 1 scored a fantastic 5 for 98, chalking up their second win of the season.

A great game played in great spirit and a credit to both teams.
