Margaret River bowls results

LADIES pennants on Tuesday, December 13 - the girls are back in form with a 4 to 0 defeat of Cowaramup.

Corporate bowls results for last Wednesday: winner was Reece Plumbing +13, second Mortgage Gallery +10, hardest trier was Margaret River Lions.

Overall winners of the pre Christmas Competition was Bright Sparks with 10 points +54 shots. Second was the Hardware Bandits with 10 points +33 shots, third The Bandits with 10 points +22 shots, fourth Jesters Flat with 10 points +18 shots. A reminder to all teams that the New Year Corporate Bowls competition starts on January 4, so get your teams organised for what promises to be another close battle.

Thursday was the Col White Memorial Day – Mixed Medley Open Fours. Two full greens of great competition was eventually won by the team skippered by Ginger Milentis from Augusta. The runner-up was the team skippered by Felix Detri from Pemberton.

Winners of the Men’s pairs on Friday was Chris Normoyle and Kenny “never too old to play bowls” Drysdale with two wins +10 shots.

Runners-up were Roger “that wine is too acidic” Last and Neil Payne with one win +9 shots. Another good field contested scroungers on Friday, with Dave “Hoges” Hogan winning from Pete No. 3 Giralt.

Saturday Men’s pennants

Margaret River A division travelled to Cowaramup, getting back on track with a 6 to 0 win. In B Division, Margaret River lost to Augusta 3 to 1 away. Sunday was the final day of the Men’s Championship Fours.

In an extremely close contest, played in tremendous spirit, it came down to the final couple of ends of the last game to find a winner. All five teams finished on two wins, separated by only four shots.

The winning team of Greg Bussell, Toni King, Don Page and Paul Campbell finished with two wins +5 shots. The other four teams finished with two wins + 1 shot, with a count-back of ends won finally deciding the runner- up of Dave Head, Noel Wyld, Barry Coffey and Graham Sargeant. Well done to all players who took part in the events this week.
