Margaret River golf

01 Feb, 2012 05:43 PM
IT was a hot one at the Margaret River Golf Club last week but this didn’t deter the many avid golfers who turned out for the regular daily competitions.

The vets’ bisque par comp on Tuesday was won by Mike Croxford (+4) on a countback from Ray Atcheson.

The women play every Wednesday and the Stableford comp was dominated by Ricky Coates (36) who beat Rhonda Zanich (32) and Sue Bloxam (32) to win the event.

Australia Day saw the playing of a mixed scroungers comp won by Scott Maguire (40) just ahead of up-and-comer Nick Liebenberg (39). Frank Bryant came third. The gross prize went to Phil Becker.

Margaret River Print sponsored Saturday’s men’s Stableford event and Damien Bullock (39) beat Henri Liebenberg (37) and John Ritchie (37). Tony Byrne won the gross.

Every Sunday there is a mixed comp and this week it was sponsored by Kim Hewton from Acton Real Estate. Russell Pratt won the men’s division and Alison Kelly won the women’s. Young Nick Liebenberg’s lessons with dad seem to be paying off, seeing him come third overall.
