FOUR local underwater hockey players have been selected to represent Australia in U19 Junior Boys team and Girls team divisions after displaying outstanding player qualities at the recent Australian National Underwater Hockey Championships in Perth.
Hayden Wenman, who played as a half back, has been playing underwater hockey for about six years and has represented Western Australia at three national competitions.
Meg Pardoe returned to play on the wing in her second national competition after a year’s absence.
Sunny Pasco played in the wing position in her first national competition and while Tate Strudwick was ineligible to play in the nationals due to age, she was approached by the Australian Junior team manager for inclusion in the girls’ team.
This is a huge achievement for these three players, who will now have a busy five months of training and fundraising in preparation of the Southern Hemisphere Games in July this year, with two training camps in Hobart, Tasmania included.
Anyone interested in sponsoring the players, or assisting with prizes for raffles can call Chris Wenman on 0404 046 059.
