THE six-and-under Margaret River Bumble Bees took on the strong Capel outfit with only six out of their 10 rostered players available.
The Capel team kindly loaned players Cabel and Maddy, enabling the Bees to field two teams of four.
Despite being undermanned and up against some very skilled opposition the Bees stood tall fighting out one win, one draw and two losses.
The combination of Quinn ‘Steam Train’ Cargill Fletcher, Joe Sharpe, Hugo ‘Boss’ Smith and Capel’s Maddy combined well with Quinn unfazed by the quality of opposition setting off on his bursts down the field on numerous occasions.
Joe’s foot skills, trapping and looking to pass to advantage, continues to feature in the Bees games.
Hugo stood, tall never taking a backward step, tackling much larger players and his increased focus and application each week saw him the deserved winner of the player of the week award, well done.
The second side of Anj ‘Kung Fu’ Kupfer-Hollis, Bryce Junk-Gibson, Noah ‘X-Files’ Mulder and Capel’s Cabel showed similar grit under fire.
Bryce’s development as a player with respect to tackling pressure, carrying the ball forward and searing runs back into defence, always with a smile on his face, making him one of the most improved players this season.
Well done Bryce on earning this week’s encouragement award.
Noah toiled hard, forcing the ball into the back of the net through pure persistence.
Anj knows only one approach, that is flat out and his trademark fist pumping, teeth gritting celebration on scoring inspires his team mates and keeps spectators amused.
Well done to the Bees who never stopped trying, never stopped smiling and never stop having fun despite the score line.
