MARGARET River 17s hosted Busselton Bombers on a true winter’s day.
Paul Pavlinovich, who had risen from his sick bed, had the luxury of a full squad thanks to help from some Under 16s.
Harry Spence, Tom Uhd, Brent Kevill, Angus McColl and Ashley Biddulph all came up and played a large part in the Hawks win.
Hawks were on the go from the first few minutes, with the ball being moved well using good team football.
Jacob Payne scored the first major after some hard work by Joel Hodgson and the on-ballers.
Anything that went past centre was held up by a solid backline led by the straight line running and hard-at-it attitude of Wiremu Lutton.
The second quarter began with a great team goal finished off by Sage Snow after a handball over the top from Brent Kevill.
Angus Dickson was moving well and getting plenty of the action.
Tom Uhd’s pace and skill gave the Hawks first crack at the ball on many occasions.
The third saw the good work continue, in what was a horrific day for good skills.
Busselton had the run on but with Harry Spence and Ashley Biddulph taking some telling marks and Brendon Martin mopping up in the back-line Hawks held off Busso’s attacks.
Dicko also continued his good game with a great goal from the pocket.
The fourth quarter was the Joel Hodgson show.
The centreline players were getting the ball out quickly and going through Michael Harrison who was solid all day, down to the big marking Joel who dominated the air.
He could not be nullified and ended up booting six for the day.
A good win to the mighty Hawks 17s
