Hawks take a licking from Harvey

AUGUSTA Margaret River hosted Harvey Brunswick Lescehenault at Gloucester Park on Saturday.

Harvey-Brunswick were successful in the three games with very easy victories in the Colts and Reserves and a close league game.

League

Harvey-Brunswick opened strongly and attacked regularly, with Luke Ancell kicking their first goal.

Ben Danials took a great mark and goaled for the Hawks.

Good team play saw Josh Morgan receive a pass to kick a goal.

Josh took a great mark in a pack and kicked the Hawks third goal from the 50m mark.

In the last half of the quarter Harvey attacked constantly and goals by Daniel Lewis and Tyler Gleadell gave Harvey a six point lead at the first change.

Early in the second quarter the Hawks got the ball deep into their forward and Grant Garstone kicked a goal for Harvey.

From the centre bounce Harvey attacked and a good pass saw Tim Niel goal for Harvey to take the lead to seven points.

In later part of the quarter Alex Stewart took a very strong mark and goaled for Harvey, and another goal from Brad Moore took Harvey into the long break with a 20 point advantage.

In the third quarter both sides were very competitive and David Newman goaled for Harvey and Kingsley Walker goaled for Harvey.

A brawl broke out in the Harvey forward line and Grant Gartone for the Hawks and Tyller Gleadell for Harvey were yellow-carded and out of it.

John Klump kicked a goal for Harvey.

Mitch Gerrans goaled for the Hawks, but at three-quarter time break Harvey lead by 39 points.

The Hawks were very positive in the last quarter, kicking five goals to Harvey’s two, but Harvey held the lead and took the game by 21 points at the final siren.

Harvey-Bru nswick – the top reserve side in the competition, having only lost once this season, completely dominated the game against the Hawks, who were forced to field many inexperienced players.

Final scores: Harvey-Brunswick 20 -17 d AMR 4-2.

Harvey-Brunswi ck dominated this game, outscoring Augusta Margaret River in each quarter.

To the credit of the young Hawks side, they tried hard all day but could not match the ability of the Harvey side.
