EIGHT time world kitesurfing champion Kristin Boese is back training in Margaret River after a stellar season overseas.
The German native had a shaky start to the year with a fractured ankle but clawed her way through the ranks to win the final in Morocco earlier this month.
The 31-year-old plans to spend her summer developing her waveriding skills, especially for the discipline of course racing.
“Racing has the best chance to become an Olympic discipline,” she said.
“It would be a dream to end my career at the Olympic Games in London.”
Boese, accompanied by her boyfriend, 2007 Kitesurfing Boarder Cross World Champion Sky Solbach, also plans on catching up with other local riders including kiteboard shaper Marty Littlewood.
Boese has been riding Littlewood’s Delta Boards for two years, winning three world championships on them.
After summer in Margaret River, the busy kiteboarder will not only be straight back into competing, but will release a book and instructional DVD on the sport.
“I want to make kitesurfing more popular because it really is not just about top performance,” she said.
“This awesome sport is great for re-energizing, for active recreation and to get new energy for everyday life.
It keeps you fit and healthy, is the best full-body workout and on top of it is the best fun you can have.”
