THE 11th round of the YMCA Drug Aware Skate Series was a huge success in Margaret River at the weekend.
Held at the Wallcliffe Road skate park for the first time, Sunday’s event drew a huge crowd of spectators, witnessing 34 talented skaters battle it out across four age divisions.
Locals dominated the event, which also saw a number of series regulars make the pilgrimage south.
The event incorporated a Momentum Skate Shop tour demo, while the Augusta-Margaret River Shire provided gourmet burgers and hotdogs.
Winners took home prizes thanks to series sponsors Healthway, Drug Aware, Momentum Skate Shop, GMTA Skateboards, DTA/Rogue Status, Picture Wheel Company, Refresh Water and the shire.
With just one more qualifying round remaining, the state final scheduled for March 9 at HQ skate park in Leederville is quickly approaching.
All competitors who placed in any of the 12 qualifying rounds will be invited to take part in the final.
The next and final round of the Skate Series will be held on Saturday at Toodyay skate park.
