Speedway sharks

THE Augusta Margaret River Speedway was well represented at the annual Far Western Championships in Shark Bay on Saturday, July 11.

A total of 119 nominations were received for the 22nd annual staging of the event, with six drivers from the local club making the 1100km journey to take part in the racing.

In the Junior Division Brad Bornatici raced brilliantly all day to finish with two first placings, together with a second.

Alex Williams also had a great day with a first, second and a fourth finish in his heats.

These placings proved to be of an advantage resulting in the Margaret River duo starting the final on front of the grid in position one and two.

Both boys raced hard in a trying race, which had plenty of action and numerous restarts.

Williams eventually finished in second place with Bornatici a credible sixth place.

Production Sedan racing was hard and fast with Colin Fairbrass, Sid Streatfield, Matt Noakes and Clint Noakes competing and having a very enjoyable day.

Clint Noakes had the best day for the locals, finishing in second place behind Shark Bay local Greg Robinson.

The Shark Bay club is to be congratulated on a fantastic day of racing.

This event is always a great day and a credit to the club.
