World Harmony Run

25/06/2008 9:46:00 AM
SIXTEEN runners participating in the World Harmony Run converged in Margaret River on Monday.

They arrived 58 days into their 111 day relay around Australia, which will cover 15,000 kilometres by the time they arrive back in Brisbane on August 15.

Already having crossed the Nullabor, the runners spent just one night in the shire before heading north to Busselton for a relatively easy section of the run.

The relay, formerly known as the peace run, covers up to 350km with each participant running more than 20km in a day.

Melbourne runner Veraja Uppal said the run had so far been fantastic.

“We’re meeting some great people,” he said.

The World Harmony Run does not fundraise or promote any individual cause, but rather promotes peace and good will.

The group visited Margaret River Primary School before their departure yesterday.
