01 Sep 10 | IT could have been. It should have been. But by day two it wasn’t and it didn’t.
01 Sep 10 | SPRING is just around the corner and the bushfire season will be on us sooner than we think.
01 Sep 10 | THANK heavens for the Shire. The old rectory behind the Anglican Church is to be refurbished.
01 Sep 10 | THE ‘kneejerk’ is under way. Congratulations to the AMR Shire, more concerned with looking like they’re doing something rather than actually achieving a beneficial outcome for the Blackwood River by addressing the real issues in the river’s ‘deteriorating health’.
01 Sep 10 | WE would again like to thank all volunteers and emergency service personnel who attended Joanne White’s accident on January 19, 2010.
01 Sep 10 | WE are dairy farmers with a back boundary fence approximately 500m from the boundary fence of the coal mine property.
01 Sep 10 | A COUPLE of months ago we received an interesting letter from the Water Corporation, advising us as a “customer” that an annual “service charge” would be levied on our Special Rural property.
01 Sep 10 | THERE is currently a Bill before State Parliament titled “Approvals and Related Reforms No 1 (Environment)” which is a four part bill also including “No 2 Mining”, “No 3 Crown Land” and “No 4 Planning”.
01 Sep 10 | I CHOSE to move from Collie 15 years ago because I wanted my children to experience a new lifestyle, other than what I had in Collie. Even though both towns had problems with drugs and alcohol, I chose Margaret River because people here are passionate about the environment and what happens in their town.

25 Aug 10 | WHY do we need to wait on further studies and reports to make a decision on the coal mine?
25 Aug 10 | THERE has been lively debate over LD Operations’ proposal to extract coal from an area to the east of Margaret River.
25 Aug 10 | I WAS disgusted to discover from visitors whilst having lunch at the lighthouse, that they would be charged $5 to walk up and see it.
25 Aug 10 | NOW that the Shire Council’s experts have engineered at ratepayers’ expense a second mouth for the Blackwood River we can all see exactly how ineffective it is going to be.
25 Aug 10 | BEING a possible neighbour to the proposed coal mine, we have a biased and negative opinion of the idea of a mine so close to us – about 1km away – or anywhere else in the region.
25 Aug 10 | IT was gratifying to see so many Margaret River people on Sunday at the rally for renewable fuels and against the new coal mine.
18 Aug 10 | RE: Change needed and Thoughts on Oil, (AMR Mail, July 21). I couldn’t agree more with the authors. The proposed oil lease is a perfect opportunity to reflect on ourselves and identify ways in which we, the community of Margaret River, have such a strong reliance on oil.
18 Aug 10 | A COAL mine on a site 15km from Margaret River is totally inappropriate and there should be nothing other than total opposition from everyone.
18 Aug 10 | IT IS with much interest that I have read comments regarding the Woolworths development from both the Shire and residents.
