LOCAL businesses cut their usual impressive swathe through the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards on Saturday.
The Augusta-Margaret River Tourism Association won the Visitor Information and Services category of the, taking home a gold medal. Denmark Visitor Centre won silver and Armadale Visitor Centre won bronze.
Top Drop Tours won silver in the Tour and/or Transport Operators category, while The Gold Pass Margaret River won bronze in the Tourism Marketing division.
Jarrah Grove Retreat won silver for Deluxe Accommodation, and Loaring Place Bed and Breakfast won bronze in the Hosted Accommodation category. Harvest Tours won silver for New Tourism Development.
It was the 40th anniversary of the awards, which aim to recognise tourism excellence and reflect the passion and professionalism of tourism operators in Western Australia.
As part of the 40th celebrations there was a tribute to Sir David Brand, the longest serving WA Premier, in whose honour the inaugural Awards were named.
Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said “the Awards have a tremendous history and forty years on they remain the most prominent in the tourism industry.”
The gold medallists will go on to represent Western Australia at the national Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
