THE Margaret River Farm Day Out on Saturday offers people the chance to see some of Australia’s best horsemen at work.
On display will be Sam and Sascha Watson’s liberty horses, the launch of a new strain of Cleanskin Sheep and numerous local and supporting exhibitors including wineries, goat breeders, alpaca breeders, and mini-Hereford cows.
Group exhibitors include Fair Harvest Permaculture, Bradshaws Mitre 10, Farmworx, Kerfuffle Wines and Koonac Goats.
Samantha Clarke, star songstress of Les Miserables showing at the Regal Theatre in Perth, will perform, and the day will also feature the launch of a new Cleanskin Sheep Strain.
Visitors can see art by Rebecca Cool, local Cecil Noakes with his rope-maker, and enjoy helicopter rides.
The Rosa Brook Fire Brigade will be there to meet any landowners who have questions about fire-readiness on their land, and Riding for Disabled explain the wonderful work they are doing with horse-assisted therapy.
Brent Watson decided to hold the event to show off Osmington’s farmland, after a national newspaper referred to the area as “a non-descript patch of farmland”.
“To Osmington locals the area is far from non-descript, it is their homeland,” Brent said.
“The inaugural Margaret River Farm Day Out is a local event, powered by locals, and wholly funded by locals to share and celebrate their region.”
Held 10am-3pm, at The Watson Family Farm, the event will take place at the end of Osmington Road at number 1813.
The final event will be an attempt at a world record for the world’s largest team of liberty horses.
