YOU might find it hard not to boogie when the John Read Band plays at Settlers Tavern, Margaret River on Saturday.
The band's style has been described as contemporary folk, blues, roots and funk - quite a mouthful, jokes frontman John Read.
He said the band got along well, leading to live shows dotted with constant funny moments and comments.
"We're all in it for the music," he said.
They recently welcomed new drummer Mark Coci, who 15 years ago used to play with Read's first band - Broken Neck. That band once supported Paul Kelly.
"[This] has meant the re-introduction of some more bluesy/rock numbers," Read said.
With many more invites to play around the area, the John Read Band is happy to be staying in Western Australia for now.
"The crowds are always very responsive and the sound is terrific," Read said of the Settlers venue.
Listen out for Quiet Earth, a powerful ballad, or Nothing to Be Blue About Blues, which will set the floor ready for grooving at their Saturday show.
