MARGARET River continued on from their successful start to the soccer season as they hosted Collie on the weekend with a 6-0 victory.
In blustery conditions, Collie team kicked off with a stiff wind at their backs and put Margaret River under pressure with the constant long ball.
However, this was managed well by Margaret River defence and they opened the scoring in the 15th minute with Alex Costa kicking a well-struck shot into the bottom corner. His South-American counterpart Tiago added to the tally with a clinical finish 10 minutes later.
The Margaret River team was in control as they treated the vocal crowd with some crisp passing and great attacking moves.
Five minutes before half time a well-constructed move saw Kade Bougoure score his first goal for the senior club with a well-placed header.
The second half tested the team's focus and they did well in not letting Collie back into the game, although it took them until midway through the half to extend their lead through birthday boy Garry Holmes.
Tiago played the striker's role beautifully with some great touches and another goal.
After this, the contest was over as Collie simply put players behind the ball to stop the leakage of goals, but there was nothing they could do when Kade scored his second goal.
He curled the ball beautifully into the top corner with the outside of his right foot.
This was another great display of team soccer and Margaret River richly deserved their victory.
Next week the men will play two games with a trip to Capel for the South West Pioneer Cup on Anzac Day and to Dardanup on Sunday to continue the League competition.
