LOCAL venues are gearing up for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea Cancer Council Fundraiser.
Tickets are on sale for Cowaramup's morning tea, held Thursday, May 23, at the Cowaramup District Social Club.
The first event in 2009, organised in under three weeks raised $7000, with 90 guests squeezed into a local cafe.
It has grown steadily and last year raised $27,000 with 190 guests in attendance.
To date $80,000 has been raised. The money assists the Cancer Council's research and supports to those suffering from cancer.
"I am always amazed by the generosity of local businesses and community members [in Cowaramup and Margaret River] who donate goods and services to help raise funds, as well as the generosity of guests," organiser Deborah Earl said.
"Organising this event really alerts me to the fact that so many people in the community are affected by cancer at some stage. If not themselves, but a loved one.
"This is a great cause, and I would like to put the challenge out to the community this year to get behind the event, and help push the total figure to over $100,000."
Once again businesses have been extremely generous donating prizes for auctions, raffles and giveaways.
This year the theme is Vintage High Tea with the food supplied by Edible Art, Cape Lodge, Leeuwin Estate, Watershed and Xanadu, and coffee by Yahava and tea by The Herbal Emporium.

On Tuesday, May 21, Voyager Estate will host a morning tea from 10am-noon, at a cost of $25 per person.
The event will include finger sandwiches, cakes, scones, tea and coffee, and prizes with all proceeds to the Cancer Council.
