THE Bushfire Recovery Working Group will host a hike along the fire-affected coast on Sunday to mark the official wind-up of recovery activities.
Meeting at Gnarabup at 12.30pm, hikers will catch a bus to Ellensbrook where they will hike 14km along the Cape to Cape track back to Gnarabup and up to Gnarabar for a sundowner event.
Augusta-Margaret River Shire bushfire recovery officer Gemma Mincherton said all community members affected by the Margaret River bushfires in November 2011 are welcome to join in.
"The event is an opportunity for residents and volunteers to have a look at how rehabilitation efforts are helping the landscape to recover," she said.
"For those not keen on the hiking component they are welcome to attend just the sundowner from 5pm onwards."
Shire president Ray Colyer said the event marked the formal end of the recovery process but acknowledged the journey was ongoing for many.
"This event provides an opportunity to recognise the efforts of all those who have assisted in the official recovery process, which was predominantly community-led," he said.
"I acknowledge there are still some people who are working to rebuild their lives after being impacted by the fires."We will continue to support them through our regular work."
