UPDATES from the Margaret River underwater hockey players are being communicated via Facebook as the girls compete in the world championships in Eger, Hungary.
One of several locals selected to represent Australia, Clare Forward from Margaret River said on Monday it had been a day of mixed results.
"The under 19 girls lost to South Africa 3-2 and the Kiwis in the morning but not without a fight," she said.
"The backline was suffering the absence of Meg, who is out with an ear infection, and one of the other backs was hit with a puck in the face and suspected broken nose.
"The masters men lost to Great Britain 5-3, and the men drew with GB two-all in an intense game which had them pulling up from two goals down.
"Local boy Jason was sitting out with a cold so couldn't help the team out there.
"Masters women won against GB yesterday 11-0 and defeated France 21-0 this morning.
"A little visit to the local castle today was a bit of culture and I am still enjoying the local baked goods.
"Off to play Argentina in a minute hope all are well."
The Mail wishes the players luck and will look forward to reporting on the final results in next week's paper.
