I AM the mother of Boris, the Italian boy rescued from the rip at Gas Bay Beach on February 3.
I am writing to thank everyone who, that day, saved my son's life, because I will never be able to do it in person.
First of all I want to thank all his friends who went to rescue him, taking many risks themselves to do it, and all the others who never forgot about him and visited him in hospital in the following weeks. Thanks too to the man who practiced CPR on Boris until the police and the ambulance arrived. In the newspaper he said he did not want to be mentioned.
I have to thank him for not giving up and making "the golden hour" as they call it, really the most important time of all.
Thanks to the ambulance, the police, the personnel of Margaret River Hospital and the helicopter service who flew my son to Perth, the ICU department, the general ward 5B and the rehabilitation centre of Royal Perth Hospital.
Friendship, care, duty and professionalism have made the difference.
Thank you, are only two simple words and they are not much but this is all I can say to everyone who helped.
