LOCAL wildcard Laura Macaulay bowed out from the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro in the second round of competition on Thursday morning.
Pitted against world number 3 Sally Fitzgibbons in the third heat of round two, Macaulay surfed well but was bested by Fitzgibbons who consistently improved throughout the heat to eventually post a 9.0, the best score of the event so far.
Throughout the morning Dimity Stoyle eliminated Hawaiian world number 10 Alana Blanchard, Paige Hareb eliminated Pauline Ado, Johanne Defay took out Lakey Peterson and Coco Ho claimed victory over Nikki Vandijk.
Meanwhile the men were on standby for competition and across the channel at the box a few of them, including former world champion Joel Parkinson, were scoring some great waves at the Box.
