MEMBERS of the Augusta Margaret River Shire’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) got an inside view of the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro on Saturday, April 5.
Taken around the event site by Surfing WA’s Neil Thompson, the group was shown the VIP corporate area and introduced to media and an underwater photographer.
Shire community development trainee and YAC chairperson Emma Godridge said the tour was a chance for YAC members to see the various career opportunities offered by surfing events.
“The group was excited to see how an event of this size works,” Ms Godridge said.
“We have some up-and-coming surfers on YAC as well as some really interested in digital media so we were really excited to be taken into the media room.
“Thank you to Surfing WA for this opportunity.”
Youths aged between 12 and 25 years are welcome to join the Youth Advisory Council.
Meetings are weekly in the Zone Room next to the Margaret River Skate Park.
