Local politician Mick Murray used a broom to wash blood from the pavement outside his office following a fight in Collie's main street on Thursday morning.
Police were called to Forrest Street just after 10am following reports of a fight between two men.
One man was taken into police custody while another was treated by ambulance officers at the scene before being taken to hospital.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward as they investigate the incident.
