MARGARET River artists have been asked to create colourful banners to decorate the main street.
Commissioned by the Augusta Margaret River Shire, the banners aim to tell the story of things valued by the community, draw attention to local attractions and celebrate the seasons.
The Autumn banners were designed by artists Jenny Sanderson and Jessica Dodd to celebrate the Margaret River Region’s world-class wine and the joys of grape harvesting.
Shire community development officer and project coodinator Gemma Mincherton said the banner artists have showcased very different styles.
“The selection panel made up of internal and external stakeholders were keen to see a variety of artists with different styles included in the project,” she said.
“We wanted designs from a mix of artists including emerging, experienced, young and old who produced work that was both abstract and traditional in style,” she said.
“It makes for an eclectic feel when viewing the sets, but I think that is also reflective of our community.”
The banners will be changed seasonally and will also be used to promote events.
