A SUPPORT group for children and teens affected by the November 2011 bushfire is being set up, called Silver Linings.
This activity-based program aims to help young people learn to cope with their thoughts and feelings on the fire. It is open to any child in the community whose parents feel they have been affected in some way by the evacuation, fire and its aftermath.
The program will be spread over six sessions, in which participants can share their stories, express their feelings, and build their coping skills.
Group activities will be provided in the age ranges of pre-schoolers, 5-8 years, 9-12 years, and adolescents.
It will operate after school hours at the Bushfire Recovery Hub in Tunbridge St, Margaret River, beginning mid-May. Parents can enjoy afternoon tea with their children and the group before each session.
