Fruit of their labour enjoyed

KARRIDALE Primary School’s fruit trees have been hard at work this autumn, producing their biggest crop since being planted, with students sampling Granny Smith apples and mandarins.

School gardener Jeff Marshall is to thank for this, after a long summer of hand-watering and timely fertilising of the fruit and vegetables.

The fruit trees benefit from the “worm juice” produced by recycling food scraps through the earthworm farms.

As part of the Waste Wise school initiative, Karridale Primary has reduced waste to just one Sulo bin that leaves the grounds per week, and this goal has been maintained for years.
