Augusta-Margaret River Hawks topple South Bunbury

THE Augusta-Margaret River Hawks battled successfully through strong winds and big puddles on the weekend, with all three grades dominating South Bunbury.

It was a great day for the Colts, winning by 13 points, the Reserves by 51 points and the League by 14 points.

The League and Colts remain in seventh place on the League ladder, while Reserves hop up to sixth place.

League

The first quarter was very competitive between the halfback lines of both clubs, and Hawks 50-game player Daniel Payne kicked the only goal for the quarter to give Augusta-Margaret River an eight point advantage at quarter time. South Bunbury did not score in the first quarter.

In the second quarter South Bunbury kicked two goals four points, and restricted the Hawks to four points.

At half time South Bunbury led by four points.

The third quarter was fiercely competitive between the two sides with each team only scoring a point each to give South Bunbury a four point lead at three-quarter time.

The Hawks lifted in the last quarter with J Humm, C Alexander and B Gerrans each kicking a goal and kept South Bunbury scoreless to run out winners by 14 points.

After a very even first quarter in which both sides kicked two goals three points, Augusta-Margaret River dominated the last three quarters kicking eight goals and keeping South Bunbury goalless to run out convincing winners by 51 points.

In the second quarter South Bunbury kicked five goals to Augusta-Margaret River’s one to give the Hawks a three point advantage at half time. In the last half Augusta-Margaret River kicked three goals and kept South Bunbury goalless to run out winners by 13 points.
