Tracky dacks give children in hosptials a leg up

BOOTLEG Brewery staff are dacking up and donating for Tracky Dack Day, Friday, July 6, to raise funds for children in hospital.

The official day is July 6 but the brewery staff will hold their event on Thursday, July 5.

General manager Michael Brookes said all the staff would take part, with a percentage of their bar and lunch specials takings going to the cause.

“It’s the first time we’ve done it,” he said. “I thought, tracky dacks and Margaret River, it goes with the climate!”

TLC for Kids holds the annual Tracky Dack Day which invites Australians to ‘dack up’ and wear a pair of trackies to school, work or at home to promote awareness for children battling illnesses in hospital.

The ‘trackies’ have been given their own special day to shine – whether it is the basic flannel tracky or velour hotpants.

Schools, workplaces, clubs and friends are invited to hold their own Tracky Dack Day or wear a sticker to show their support.

Children in hospital are encouraged to wear trackies or casual clothes instead of pyjamas to help boost their state of mind.

In 2011, more than $40,000 was raised in the inaugural Tracky Dack Day.
