Singaporean visitors injured in Cowaramup crash

THREE people, including two Singaporean visitors, were hospitalised after a car crash in Cowaramup on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Constable Leon Parrish said a 49-year-old local woman had stopped her four-wheel- drive at the end of Treeton Rd, at the intersection with Bussell Highway, at 3.20pm when a hire car with two Singapore travellers in their 40s, heading south on the highway, entered the turning lane and ran into the side of the woman’s vehicle.

Senior Constable Parrish said the travellers might have mistaken the turning lane for an overtaking lane section of highway and moved to the left.

They had to be cut from their hire car by emergency services.

The male driver sustained broken ribs, and the woman passenger was flown to Perth to receive treatment in a trauma unit for suspected spinal injuries.

The local woman escaped with bruising.

Police are investigating the crash.
