All aboard for art

ARTISTIC locals can join a 10-day creative tour and camping trip around Western Australia with Shepherdson Transport and Arts Margaret River.

Headed for Sandstone, Wooleen Station, Mullewa, and Pinnacles, a Shepherdson bus will take 20 people through rich outback scenery boasting vibrant wildflowers in some areas.

Passengers can draw, paint, write, take photos, and enjoy a two-day ceramics workshop by potters Cher Shackleton and Ian Dowling.

Arts Margaret River president Anne Shepherdson said the tour was about inspiration “whether you write, paint, take photos, or just like to admire the beautiful outback”. Having world-known artists such as Ian for the ride is a bonus. Ian said, “I’m hoping to do some impromptu art, where we stop somewhere and leave our mark.” He said they will meet other artists and share their expertise in areas besides ceramics.

Anne said the Sandstone Shire is welcoming the bus and inviting its own locals to join the workshop, beautifully “linking their community with our community through the arts”. Bus owner Lloyd Shepherdson has taken locals on similar trips before, visiting Alice Springs, Karratha, and Denmark.

The bus will leave on September 13 and return September 22. Cost is $1380 per person, with meals, camp/parking fees, and twin-share tents included.

Places are limited, contact Lloyd on 9757 2955 or visit www.bushiremargaretriver.com.au/functions for more information.
