MARGARET River Senior High School is on target to record a record seventh consecutive WA Champion School Surfing Title after the first rounds of the event were held last Thursday and Friday.
With the likes of Jacob Willcox, Shaun Manners, Josh Burke and Jack Teague in the team and all performing well, Margaret River looked at home in the clean barrelling waves just south of Gas Bay on Friday.
Margaret River dominated the South West regional event winning all but two of the eight divisions in an ominous sign for other schools.
Surfing WA events manager Justin Majeks said of the South West event: “It was by far some of the best waves I've seen for any School Surfing Title event. I was impressed by the performances of all students, especially the outfit from Margaret River."
School Surfing Title events were also held on the Peel and Great Southern regions last Thursday and Friday. The Mid West event is still to be held at Geraldton.
The winning teams from each of the regional qualification events are invited to compete against metropolitan schools at the State School Finals at Trigg Beach on Friday, next week.
