AUGUSTA Margaret River’s Hawks football teams travelled to Bovell Park to take on the Busselton Magpies on Saturday, and received a sound defeat in all three divisions.
Busselton won the league game by 107 points, the reserves by 173 points and the colts by 19 points.
League
Busselton led from the first whistle in the league, kicking eight goals and keeping the Hawks from scoring to secure a 54 point lead at quarter time.
The Hawks came to life a little more in the second quarter, managing to kick four goals but remaining downtrodden as the Magpies swooped with a further six before half time.
The Magpies continued to dominate the second half of proceedings, kicking a further nine goals while the Hawks managed just three by the final siren, going down by 107 points.

A spectacular defeat of the Hawks was on the cards when they ran out against the Busselton Magpies on Saturday, being completed dominated throughout the proceedings.
The Magpies kicked ten goals in the first half while the Hawks managed only 3, before taking a further 19 goals in the second half while the Hawks responded only once.
At full time the Magpies met the siren with victory several times over and a 173 point deficit in the scoreline.

The most closely contested game of the day was held between the Magpies and the Hawks in the Colts division, though the young Hawks too, couldn’t hold off the might of the Busselton team, and were defeated by 19 points.
The Hawks led by a goal at half time, but the home side fought back in the second half and regained the lead and ran out winners at the final siren.
