MORE than 600 cow onesies are sitting in Cowaramup ready for the town's Deja Moo fair on Saturday.
The community intends to blitz the current world record for the most people dressed up as cows. The record stands at 470.

ONE of the largest plastic cows featured in Cowaramup will be auctioned off at the town’s Deja Moo festival on Saturday, July 12.
The auction will start from midday with bidding to begin at $2000.
Asked why someone would want a plastic cow, local resident Kerry Sibly laughed and said many people had admired the figures since they were installed two years ago. They are a huge topic of conversation between Mr Sibly and people who walk into his shop, MuKau Giftware and Gallery
“We’ve had so many people asking to buy them,” he said.
Sadly, some people have not been so polite. Six months ago, someone with a ute allegedly tried to steal one of the big cows and broke its leg in the failed attempt, before taking off with one of the calves.
“We’ve since changed the camera setup,” Mr Sibly assured.
Mr Sibly has given the soon-to-be-sold cow a fresh coat of paint, and has also done up a new baby cow to replace the one that was stolen.
He hoped whoever bought the cow might consider donating it back to the town, but otherwise imagined the buyer would use it to adorn their property.
Any money raised at the Deja Moo festival, including the auction, will go to the Cowaramup Lions Club for maintenance of the cows.
A surprise visit from the Deja Moo cow, Daisy, thrilled the students at Margaret River Independent School last week.
Daisy talked to the students about the upcoming Deja Moo Country Fair to be held in Cowaramup on Saturday, July 12.

One highlight of this year's fair is Cowaramup's attempt to break the world record for the largest number of people dressed as cows.
Official 'onesies' for the record attempt have already sold out, but that doesn't mean you can't be part of the fun.

TWO years ago the Margaret River Council met to decide the fate of the plan to permanently install the Cowaramup Cows .
Some said too many cows would be a distraction, that they looked "tacky", and that "tourists want an authentic country experience and the shire should not allow the Lions Club to deface the town with imitations".
Those supporting the proposal said it would be good for tourism, put Cowaramup on the map, attract more visitors to stop and spend money in the town, create a town identity and remind people of the area’s dairy origins.

COMMUNITY members who championed the project and nurtured it through to its approval later reflected on the success of the plan.
Loraine Teasdale, who approached the Lions with the idea in April last year, was elated by the result.
“Some people have a big pineapple (in their towns)... cows are a world first,” she said.
Cowaramup resident Sue Cannon said “It’s fantastic... it’s sparked so much conversation. I believe it’s going to be good for the businesses too.”

After driving through Cowaramup on his way to his accommodation, he penned this cheeky poem about the town's newest residents.
A HAPPY crowd celebrated the Cowaramup Cows’ first birthday at the Deja Moo fair in July 2013.
