A NEW food and wine trail handbook is being launched to celebrate "the little guys" behind the Margaret River region's produce.
Titled Inspirational Food and Wine Journeys, the free handbook contains behind the scenes interviews with 19 local producers of handmade cheese and chocolate, organic fruit and vegetables and boutique wines, as well as personal recipes and a trail map for visitors to follow.
The guide is the brainchild of the Augusta Margaret River Tourism Association and has been produced with funding from the Augusta Margaret River Shire and the Margaret River Regional Producers Association.
AMRTA project director Simon Latchford said it was a first for the region.
"The inspiration for this guide came from a clearly increased demand for 'meet-the-maker' tourism experiences," Mr Latchford said.
Free copies of the guide will be available at the Margaret River Farmers' Markets and the Margaret River and Augusta Visitor Centres.
