THE Margaret River Farmers’ Market will plant itself at its new, permanent site next month with a great number of stallholders to attend the kickoff event.
Setting up at the Margaret River Education Campus on Bussell Highway, about 40 to 45 stallholders will sell fresh, local produce as they have for years at the original site on Tunbridge Street.
The new site will be slightly less convenient for visitors on foot but will boast plenty of space and potential for growing even bigger, market co-ordinator Kat Lombardo said.
“It’s massive,” she said.
“There’s the ability to expand to 55, 60 stalls.
“We’re really excited to have a home, and the future seems bright.”
For the Education Campus, the markets are something completely new and welcomed as a way of supporting local enterprises.
South West Institute of Technology managing director Duncan Anderson was delighted to share the campus with the weekly event.
“The Margaret River Education Campus is a community resource designed to be an integral part of local community-supporting initiatives that contribute to the wellbeing, vibrancy and economic prosperity of the region,” Mr Anderson said.
“The Farmers’ Market provides a platform for new products and adds value to the rich diversity and quality of regional produce available to the local community.”
The first Farmers’ Market at the campus will be held August 23, running 8am-noon. Plenty of parking is available at the site.
